The John Anson Ford Theatre stands as one of Los Angeles' most distinctive outdoor performance venues, nestled in the Hollywood Hills with a dramatic natural amphitheater setting. This beloved venue hosts an eclectic mix of programming throughout the year, from classical music concerts and jazz performances to comedy shows, making it a cultural cornerstone that reflects LA's diverse artistic landscape. The theater's unique hillside location creates an intimate connection between performers and audiences under the open sky.
What sets the Ford Theatre apart is its magical outdoor atmosphere, where performances unfold against a backdrop of rolling hills and often spectacular sunsets. The natural acoustics of the amphitheater-style seating create an immersive experience, while the open-air setting adds an element of spontaneity and connection to the elements that indoor venues simply cannot match. Audiences often arrive early to enjoy picnics on the grounds, creating a relaxed, communal atmosphere that enhances the overall experience.
Located in the heart of Hollywood, the Ford Theatre offers a refreshing escape from the urban hustle while remaining easily accessible to the greater Los Angeles area. The venue's hillside perch provides a sense of retreat and tranquility, making each visit feel like a special occasion. The surrounding landscape and the journey to reach the theater become part of the evening's entertainment, setting the stage for memorable performances in this uniquely Californian setting.

I recently saw Watchhouse perform at The Ford with Charlie Parr opening (photo attached). Beautiful little amphitheater—small, intimate, and tucked right into the middle of Los Angeles. It reminded me of an outdoor high school auditorium but with way more charm and atmosphere. The acoustics and audio were excellent, and the landscaping was beautiful with lots of gardens and vegetation. The staff were friendly, and the food and beverage options were unique, including coffee (a great touch!). Overall, The Ford has a relaxed, inviting vibe—perfect for experiencing live music up close.
An Unforgettable Night with Andy Grammer at the Ford Amphitheatre I recently had the pleasure of seeing Andy Grammer perform live at the Ford Amphitheatre, and it was an absolutely magical experience. The night was made even more special by the fact that his wife and their adorable kids joined him on stage. Watching them all sing together was incredibly heartwarming and created a truly unique, intimate atmosphere that you just don't get at larger venues. The Ford Amphitheatre itself is a fantastic location for a concert. It has a surprisingly friendly and close-knit feel, and I can honestly say there isn't a bad seat in the house. Whether you're up close or in the back, you feel connected to the performance. It's a venue that truly makes every show feel personal and memorable. I left with a huge smile on my face, and it was a night I won't soon forget.
Totally loved this venue! It was our first time here. I didn't get to take pictures of the venue itself, but I love that it's outdoors, the stage is a real nice size! The seating arrangement is very easy to maneuver and the seats are pretty comfy with ample leg room. It's awesome that you can bring your own beer and wine along with food! And you can enjoy it all in your seat or throughout the venue in their several picnic table options. Really awesome place and the parking situation was very easy too!
This has to be one of my new favorite summer venues. The seating was very intimate, the convenience of being able to bring beverages into this particular event was very convenient very unique. Parking was set up well easy to get into no hassle no drama. The performers for this particular event was amazing more than I could have asked for. I would definitely see another event at this venue. A must visit. Not to mention being outside was perfect.
Such a great venue beautiful evening. The staff is very pleasant and welcoming. The only thing that wasn't great was the stacked parking. But most people that go to the hollywood bowl or here are aware of it good idea to plan to get there early to you get parking.
