The New Amsterdam Theatre stands as one of Broadway's most storied venues, a beautifully restored historic playhouse that has been home to Disney's spectacular productions since the late 1990s. This Times Square landmark represents the grandeur of early 20th-century theatre design, with its ornate Art Nouveau details and lavish interior that transport audiences into a world of theatrical magic. Currently housing Disney's long-running hit The Lion King, the venue has become synonymous with family-friendly Broadway spectacle and innovative stagecraft.
Stepping into the New Amsterdam is like entering a palace of performance, where soaring ceilings and intricate architectural details frame an intimate yet grand theatrical experience. The venue's design ensures excellent sightlines from most seats, while the acoustics allow every roar, song, and whispered line to reach audiences with crystal clarity. The theatre's restoration has preserved its historic charm while incorporating modern technical capabilities that support the complex puppetry, costumes, and scenic design that Disney productions are known for.
Located in the pulsing heart of Times Square, the New Amsterdam Theatre sits amid the bright lights and energy that define Broadway's theatre district. The surrounding blocks buzz with pre-show dining options, street performers, and the constant flow of tourists and theatre-goers. Arriving for a show here means immersing yourself in the quintessential New York theatre experience, where the excitement begins the moment you step onto the bustling sidewalks of 42nd Street.

I love the new Amsterdam theater. It was my first time seeing a Broadway play and it was amazing. The theater is loaded with great features all around that makes it feel special. All of the workers there were so friendly whenever you asked a question. I would definitely go back there and see another show!
Great Production of Aladdin-costumes, music, etc. theater itself has beautiful architecture. However, the seats are really uncomfortable. It’s tighter than an economy ticket on a plane. I’m 5’0 and my knees touch the back of the seat in front of me. My daughter 5’6 and hubby 5’10 were very disciplined to stay seated long enough for intermission before they stood. Seats C110,112, and 114). At intermission we can see others around the theater stay standing and wait until the last minute to sit again. End of aisle tickets seem way better. The place needs an update.
This theatre is ok. The ushers kept seating late people some in groups of 10 throughout the first 20 minutes of the show. This was extremely disrespectful to on time people and I missed funny dialog during these seatings because people were laughing and I didn't know why. If you go downstairs and use the ladies room you take your life into your own hands. It was awful and the smell horrible. After the show I had to go back and it smelled like bleach so obviously someone complained. The staff was friendly, seats so so comfortable but legroom was great. *****5 STARS - Aladdin was great. Funny with great songs and excellent performers and costumes. Great for adults and kids.
Breathtakingly STUNNING!!🤩 😍 ✨️ 💖 I had booth seating for the ALADDIN show🎭🥰 Excellent view! I'd prefer the booth over regular seating, except for behind the conductor's section- I would've definitely sat there if possible(music/sound was IMPECCABLE ❣️) I felt like the part in the original Annie movie when she went to the movies..(🎶"Let's go to the movies 🎬! ..let's go see the stars ✨️...!!"🎶) Well-preserved architecture & craftsmanship of the fine details. 10 outta 10👌🏽
Beautiful theater with so much detail! The front of house staff and bar staff were so friendly and guided us beautifully where we needed to be. We enjoyed every moment of our visit. And the show, Aladdin, was great!
