The Orpheum Theatre stands as one of New York's cherished Off-Broadway venues, offering an intimate alternative to the grand scale of Broadway houses. This theater has carved out its reputation by hosting innovative productions that push creative boundaries, from experimental dramas to cutting-edge musicals that often serve as stepping stones to larger stages. The venue represents the heart of New York's thriving Off-Broadway scene, where artistic risk-taking and audience connection take precedence over spectacle.
What sets the Orpheum apart is its ability to create an immediate, visceral connection between performers and audience. The smaller scale means every seat offers an up-close view of the action, allowing you to see the subtleties of performance that might be lost in larger venues. The acoustics are designed for clarity and intimacy, ensuring that every whispered line and musical note reaches you with crystal precision. This closeness transforms each performance into a shared experience where the energy between stage and seats becomes palpable.
Situated in the vibrant tapestry of New York's theater district, the Orpheum sits among the eclectic mix of venues that make the city's performing arts scene so dynamic. The surrounding area pulses with the energy of theater-goers, artists, and the general buzz of Manhattan street life. Arriving for a show here means stepping into a neighborhood where creativity is the currency and every corner holds the promise of discovery.

An amazing venue. Such an intimate space. I saw Ginger Twinsies, an amazing show that I'd recommend to anyone. I always love going to the Orpheum because the shows that they put on are always refreshing, different, and a perfect example of what makes New York the city it's is. A great experience every time I go. I recommend to anyone, visitor or resident, to go and see what's going on at the Orpheum.
Great theater experience with a little more intimate setting. Small concession stand for the basics with not too bad of a theater concessions price. Myself and a friend saw “Ginger Twinsies” which is a fun and frenetic experience.
My honest review…if you’re from the SF Bay Area, it’s kinda like Beach Blanket Babylon but only focused on both the original and remake of The Parent Trap, their respective actors, lots of sexual and drug innuendo (not so subtle poke at Lohan 😕) but without the drag and cool, over-the-top hats. Great - really amazing cast, well done, updated and fresh. Definitely for a mature audience 😘 The theatre is a favorite of ours ❤️
Ginger Twinsies! The best of camp. Great costumes and set design.
Saw Ginger Twinsies here and it was AMAZING! Highly recommended as a venue (and show)!
