Finish dinner 30+ minutes before showtime. Most restaurants offer pre-theater menus.
Highly recommended, especially for evening performances. Book ahead to avoid disappointment.
Most listed restaurants are within 5-10 minutes walk. Factor in extra time during busy hours.

Note about the first row on the balcony, you will be sitting behind a bar and it is pretty obstructive. I didn't ruin my experience but I want to pass along the info. The sound is incredible, it's very moody, and the history really shows in the decor. With that said, the history is showing with cracked paint and a need for some refirbishment. The staff was wonderful and helpful. Everyone seemed to be very nice and happy to be there. Prices were on par with similar theaters. The theater just seems to need some much needed love.
The Riv is one of my favorite classic Chicago Venues! I’ve seen many great shows and never had a bad evening! Sure, two beers are $34, but that’s expected these day.
I visited to see this historic building. The vibrations and atmosphere made me imagine the decades past. Nostalgic to realize all the activities of people have fun under this elegance.
Such a great time. I like how the general admission is set in different tiers. I'm not the tallest and we were able to snag a spot behind the divider of the tier allowing my sister and I see. Only suggestion.... If it's a sold out snow like last night. FANS!!!! on that first tier it's be nice to put some type of fan on the ceiling it's low enough to make a difference.
Saw Aunty Donna there, and it was an incredible theater!! The staff were all very helpful, and I could see and hear everything perfectly. The inside was very ornate, and gave it the old-timey feel.
