The Wilbur Theatre stands as one of Boston's most versatile entertainment venues, hosting an eclectic mix of performances that span comedy, music, film screenings, and special events. This historic theater has carved out a distinctive niche in the city's cultural landscape, equally comfortable presenting touring rock acts, stand-up comedians, folk musicians, and everything in between. Its programming reflects a commitment to both established artists and emerging talent across multiple genres.
The intimate setting creates an immediate connection between performers and audience, with excellent sightlines that ensure every seat feels close to the action. Whether you're catching a comedy show where laughter fills every corner or experiencing the raw energy of a live music performance, the venue's acoustic design and cozy atmosphere enhance whatever's happening on stage. The theater's size strikes the perfect balance - large enough to attract notable touring acts, yet small enough to maintain that special energy that only comes from a more intimate setting.

I went there for Josh Johnson comedy show and everything was great - except the size of the seats at the mezzanine level, I couldn't fit my legs. Only comfortable for people 5' or shorter. Also my arm rest was broken. They definitely need some renovations done, this was a sold out event, is it possible they could invest some of the profit into comfort for the patrons visiting?
Historic live music and entertainment venue right by Boston Commons. Pros: there's table service so you can get a drink and snacks (popcorn, candy, chips, etc) at your table without leaving during the show. The architecture for the venue is really unique and the staff is all very friendly. Prices are normal for venues like this, so I think I had a double whiskey and spent ~$30 before tip. Cons: it's all seated so seeing live music here is a little weird as there's no standing option. It's probably much better for live comedy. When I bought tickets online the seating chart wasn't provided so I got tickets a little further off to the side than I expected.
This place is so gorgeous! Saw Morbid here in September. Things to know the balcony seating stairs are very steep! Also the seats are pretty hard and it's a tight squeeze with the row in front of you. Just be aware if you are buying seats up in the balcony. Very cool venue!
This theater was amazing. Seats were great and comfortable. The view was perfect, as it was enough of an incline that even someone a small as me (I'm 5' 0) had no problem seeing the show. We were here for Josh Johnson, and I have to say the acoustics are great! You could hear and see everything from the Mezz seats. The staff was great as well. The only con was it was a bit overly warm, but v it didn't affect our enjoyment of the show. I will definitely be back!
The show was amazing and we had seats right up front. The seats in the orchestra section however are not the most comfortable, basically small cafe chairs packed together with little tables between (the tables were helpful). I did like that they had waitresses so people werent crowding the bar/concession stand and we didnt need to get up to get water halfway through.
