The theater's neoclassical architecture and elegant interior create an appropriately majestic setting for these most sophisticated of performing arts.
Attending a performance here is an experience that engages all the senses, from the moment you step into the opulent lobby with its soaring ceilings and grand staircases. Beyond beautiful venue. Fantastic Opera. We saw Rigoletto and got a complimentary upgrade to the very front of the orchestra section. Fantastic performance and view. The only complaint, which really isn't one is that we were so close that we had to really move our heads to look up to the screen that translates the singing to English to follow the story line and by the end, my neck was sore. Would love a second screen option for those up front (like they have at the Sydney Opera House). Again, not a complaint really, just a notice.
I saw the Opera Rigoletto! Such an incredible experience: Every aspect was top notch: Singing, Actor, Music, Sound system, Orchestra, Set and Costume Design, comfort of the seats, it was all AMAZING. Ticket sales for the SF Opera Company only cover about 20% of the cost of the ticket. Yes, tickets are expensive, but this experience is not to be missed. I recommend you come early to a lecture before the performance, and also study up a bit about the Opera you will see on YouTube. Really an OUTSTANDING experience.
Went to the opera. Parking was close and no problems entering the building. Beautiful building inside and out. In the heart of San Francisco. Everything is clean and sanitary. Very welcoming staff and accommodating. Seats comfortable, lighting perfect, and screens for those who are not seated close up. They go out of their way to make sure the entire experience exceeds expectation. I thoroughly enjoy this venue every time. Highly recommend
I had the pleasure of visiting the Opera House to see my very first ballet, and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. The venue itself is stunning – grand, elegant, and beautifully maintained, offering the perfect backdrop for such a special performance. Adding to the charm was the festive, Christmassy decor, which made the evening feel even more magical and inviting. The ballet was mesmerizing, and the artistry of the dancers, combined with the ambiance, left me in awe. If you’re looking for a memorable way to celebrate the holiday season or simply enjoy an exceptional cultural experience, I highly recommend a visit to the Opera House.
What an amazing experience. The War Memorial Opera is a beautiful building. We experienced Mozart's Idomeneo. Powerful!
