🌟 The Queen of Versailles – Broadway, NYC ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I brought my wife to see The Queen of Versailles on her birthday, not knowing what to expect—except that Kristin Chenoweth was in it, and Wicked is basically the soundtrack of our car. Despite the mixed reviews floating around, this show was a blast. It’s bold, offbeat, and surprisingly relatable—especially if you’ve ever tried to give your kid the world while your wallet says “not today.” Kristin is still Kristin—a powerhouse with comedic timing and emotional depth. And the Filipina nanny? Scene-stealer. She brought warmth and humor that grounded the chaos. The cast was fresh, the energy was high, and the story—based on Jackie Siegel’s real-life rollercoaster—was both outrageous and oddly touching. From the glitz of building a $100 million mansion to the gut-punch of the 2008 recession, this musical dives into the cost of chasing dreams, fame, and family legacy. And it does it with sequins, sass, and a score that sticks. 🎭 “You’ll leave with stars in your eyes, a tune in your head, and caviar in your dreams.” That tagline nails it. So yes, go in with an open mind, and you’ll walk out with a smile. 5 stars. Go see it today. 🎟️ Quick Facts: • Venue: St. James Theatre, Broadway • Lead: Kristin Chenoweth as Jackie Siegel • Music: Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin) • Book: Lindsey Ferrentino • Direction: Michael Arden
First of all, an absolutely STUNNING theater. It is one of my favorites I’ve seen a show at in NYC now. I really thought the lobby was beautiful, the seats were comfy, the proscenium was pretty, and there were a lot of good seats. The orchestra level is definitely a bit less drastic of an incline, so if you are short (like me), I hope you aren’t sat behind someone tall! I had to crane my neck a lot. The front-of-house staff and bartenders were all super friendly and welcoming, and don’t treat you weird because it’s a Broadway theater; if you talk to them nicely and casually, they will return the attitude and not make you feel weird. I really love St. James Theater!!
When you get here you’ll be walking right into the lobby! It is small & charming. The bar is right there & across you can buy the souvenirs from the show. Our seats where on the mezzanine. Just be aware: the seats are quite small, tight with little leg room. The bathrooms are on the basement & mezzanine level. I think they can do a better job organizing the bathroom line during the intermission (on the basement level), it can be confusing. All the staff are helpful and friendly! We saw Sunset Blvd. Update: this time we sat on the mezzanine closer to the edge and the seats were comfortable. We saw The Queen of Versailles!
Shows Queen of Versailles was just awful bc of staff. The customer service was horrible. My partner had a medical condition and the extremely rude staff member who happened to just sit in row Row H seat 18 for most if not all the duration of the show and then proceed to insult us for rushing to the bathroom mid show to take some insulin bc sugar dropped. He was beyond rude and disrespect up that intermission we decided to leave bc we were over it. Never going back. Money lost. Train your staff better. Unacceptable. No wonder why so many didn’t return after the intermission. Empty seats everywhere.
The best thing about this experience was undoubtedly the show itself. It's incredible!!!This production and performance is something else. Absolutely fantastic. If you are reading this and you haven't been to see it, you need to go and see it! I saw this on the West End in London and had to see it again because it's so good! The best show I have ever seen! Even my friend who hadn't seen it before immediately said after it had finished that he needed to see it again! Now back to the theatre... We had absolutely no trouble getting into the theatre, it was quick, easy and hassle free. The staff were all friendly and polite, letting us know where everything you would need was, i.e the bar and the toilet. Service at the bar was extremely quick, we waited less than a minute and were served by a very chirpy team member, I wish I'd gotten their name. We also used the same bar and server in the interval and again the service was super quick! The wine was $38 for 2 glasses. Seats were comfortable with enough space and we had a wonderful view from where we were sat in the stalls. Thank you for an unforgettable evening, St James theatre.
