Been to this absolutely beautiful and sonically incredible venue a few times, and every moment there is something very special. The grandeur of the entrance, the intricacy of the stained glass windows, the friendly staff and volunteers, not a bad seat anywhere, and stunning warm acoustics. I’ve sat in the front row, middle areas, side seats, upper deck / balcony… just about perfect. Built as the original home for the Ethical Society of St. Louis, this building (the original part) was constructed in 1912(!), designed by same brilliant architect that was engaged with the 1904 World’s Fair, Louis C. Spiering (who btw sadly died that same year 1912, at the age of 37, appendicitis?). The lobby to the right (as facing from Washington Street), contains a bar, restrooms, cocktail tables and related sitting areas… even a cozy little nook. This is a gem among other stellar facilities in this Grand Center Arts District. So proud we have this here in StL. Much thanks to the Sheldon Arts Foundation, all the staff and volunteers, and those who donate to help preserve such a vibrant facility with so much heart.
As a StL native that moved away 23 years ago, I drove back ‘home’ for a concert and this was my first time at this venue. I am so glad I came back. 900 mile round trip was worth it. Wow. The venue was intimate and not a bad seat in the house from what I could tell. The show was great, ushers and bar staff were super friendly. I’ll be looking for future shows. Thank you.
One of the best venues I’ve been to. So intimate and cozy. The bar is upstairs and offers plenty of space to talk with friends and mingle. The staff were all fantastic. Everyone was very friendly and kind. My only critique is the comfort of the chairs as this is an older venue. You can quickly get over they, I would gladly come back.
Great sound for The Burney Sisters show in the vintage concert hall, attached to a modern entrance and bar area.
Amazing Concert but them steps Almost Took me OUT! Please sit on the lower Level but the View was Great 👍🏽
