My daughter and I have been seeing shows together at Popejoy Hall for over 30 years. We've seen everything from Grease to The Grinch, Gypsy and Caberet to Phantom of the Opera and Rent, Stomp, The Lion King, Hamilton, you name it! We've seen shows in most of the theaters there and we've enjoyed every show. I decided to purchase the Broadway package this year, and it's the best money I've ever spent! We saw the first show in our Broadway package, Moulin Rouge, and I have to say, it was probably the best show I've ever seen! It was sooooo amazing that I wish I could've caught another performance. If you've never seen Moulin Rouge live on stage, trust me when I say, SEE IT AS SOON AS YOU CAN! There was so much going on that you didn't want to look away for even a second. This show and story was much better live than the movie. I will buy tickets to multiple performances if we're ever lucky enough to get that show back here again. Chicago is up next, we can't wait!!
The last show we saw we were in the front row. Yeah you had to look up but I'm 5'2. A few other shows we were a few rows back. Better that way. Overall it's a great place to see concerts and plays.
Let's hear from my son's white coat ceremony it's a very nice place very nice Auditorium the quartet that played the strings was fantastic and it brought back a lot of memories of playing on popejoy Hall
Parking garage provides easy access (paid $5, if memory serves). If you're willing to walk 2 or 3 blocks, there are a good many street spots, too, depending on your arrival time. The hall has good views from most seats. Nose bleeds are nose bleeds; however, so consider the type of show you're going to see as you choose your seats.
Acoustically pretty nice. Comfortable seating. Many many many stairs. If you were, you are seated in the mezzanine. Needs to have better instructions for people who are using rideshare facilities. Drop off point point was half a block One direction. No instructions or signage on where the pick up points is set. Since folks are leaving after dark and many are elderly, this is a little unsafe.
