Its hard to believe that this building was vacant for decades and at one time had no or a badly damaged roof. Not anymore, after lots of ❤️ and welcome changes. Next door parking garage and even valet means convenience even in winter, large lobby. They offer a wide variety of accessible music, spoken word, jazz, guests artists, so not some snooty, inaccessible 1% experience. Dress is from casual, comfortable to dressy. No sweats and old trainers but no formal either. I'd say look at the schedule and I think you'll find at least one or two events that interests you.
Got to travel and see Ben Folds and the Symphony, the venue and concert were amazing and greatly exceeded my expectations. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the refreshments in the atrium as we were running late and didn't get a chance. Also, it was nice to see that they had a quiet room for those with sensory challenges - that is a nice touch.
Orchestra Hall is a true jewel of Detroit—both visually and acoustically. The historic architecture is breathtaking, and the sound quality is flawless, making every DSO performance unforgettable. The musicianship is world-class, the staff are warm and professional, and the atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming. A must for any music lover. Perfect elevated date night in Detroit. Red carpet ready!
We attended the DSO youth concert today and it was wonderful! The music was beautiful but what I really enjoy with these shows is that it's an interactive experience where the conductor shares so much with the audience throughout the performance. We didn't have children with us and could not have enjoyed it more. We are so lucky to have such a talented orchestra in Detroit and such a gorgeous venue.
Great place -- I heard a wonderful performance of Shostakovitch while on a quick visit to Detroit. Had a nice walk around beforehand too, grabbing a snack at Whole Foods across the street. So glad the symphony has such a stunning place to perform -- definitely check it out if you have the chance!
