The Shubert Theater stands as New Haven's premier venue for live performance, presenting an eclectic mix of entertainment that spans Broadway musicals and intimate plays to comedy shows, dance performances, and concerts across genres from jazz to R&B. As part of the historic Shubert theater chain, this venue carries forward a legacy of bringing professional touring productions and local talent to Connecticut audiences, serving as a cultural anchor for the region's performing arts scene.
Attending a show at the Shubert offers the classic theater experience that devoted playgoers cherish — the anticipation as house lights dim, the shared energy between performers and audience, and the acoustics designed to carry every note and spoken word throughout the space. The venue's traditional theater layout ensures that whether you're seated in the orchestra or balcony, you'll feel connected to the action on stage, creating an intimate atmosphere even during larger productions.
Located in the heart of New Haven, the Shubert Theater sits within easy reach of the city's vibrant downtown area, surrounded by restaurants, cafes, and the intellectual energy of nearby Yale University. The theater district atmosphere makes for a perfect evening out, whether you're grabbing dinner before the show or discussing the performance afterward while strolling through New Haven's walkable streets.

This was my first time there and it was amazing. It was easy to park right next to the theater for 10.00. The seats are comfortable and there is plenty of leg room. There is not a bad seat in the theater. It is a great place to see a show.
I love the Shubert! Unlike another larger venue in Hartford... every seat is a good seat and you can actually see the stage, even from the back of the balcony! I bring around 40 students to see a show each year, and I can honestly say their group prices can not be beat by any other large theatre in the state. They also have a wonderfully diverse array of shows, including great dance performances which can be hard to find. I highly recommend!
I traveled from Rockland county NY other that the rush hour traffic it was an easy drive. The treatre was beautiful. The staff very friendly and helpful. I would definitely attend another event there. Plenty of nearby parking for a reasonable price.
Great theater, plenty of seat room. The acoustic was excellent. I would definitely go back to see another Broadway show.
Went to see the nutcracker with my mom and we both enjoyed the experience. The parking itself is fine but if you cannot handle traffic then plan to come earlier and look for street parking nearby.
