Providence Performing Arts Center stands as Rhode Island's premier destination for Broadway touring productions, classical performances, and live entertainment. This grand theater welcomes everything from Tony Award-winning musicals and comedy acts to symphonic concerts and contemporary dance, serving as the cultural heartbeat of downtown Providence. The venue's commitment to presenting both crowd-pleasing blockbusters and more intimate artistic works has made it an essential stop for major national tours.
The theater creates an atmosphere where anticipation builds from the moment you enter the lobby. The intimate setting ensures that every seat offers a connection to the performance, whether you're watching a full-scale musical production or listening to a jazz ensemble. The acoustics allow for the subtle nuances of both spoken dialogue and musical arrangements to reach every corner of the house, while the sightlines keep audiences engaged with the action on stage.
Located in the heart of Providence's arts and entertainment district, the theater sits among the city's historic architecture and vibrant restaurant scene. The area comes alive on performance nights, with theatergoers strolling tree-lined streets and gathering at nearby cafes and bars before curtain time. The venue's downtown location makes it easily accessible and creates a true night-out-on-the-town atmosphere.
With seven upcoming shows spanning musicals, comedy, and classical performances, there's something for every taste at Providence Performing Arts Center — browse the full lineup on CultureTicks to find your next memorable night out.

Five stars! I went to the Providence Performing Arts Center to see Thorn and it was an unforgettable night. The theater is absolutely stunning — from the architecture to the lighting and sound. Staff was friendly and everything felt smooth and well-organized. Can’t wait to come back for another show!
Amazing theater! Staff was polite, seating was great and the show was out of this world. Saw Riverdance in April 2025 and would recommend anyone that has a chance to see the show, not to pass up the opportunity. Parking and traffic is horrible. The garage across the street is over $50 for a couple of hours of show time. It was pouring out so we took this option but there is no sign of the cost until you park and go to the kiosk to pay. By that time your going to pay it but it was a shock.
PPAC remains a Providence institution and the interior is as beautiful as ever. The quality of the shows remains excellent and while the tickets are certainly not cheap, they are priced appropriately. The online ticketing system worked flawlessly.
Watched Shen Yun there. The shows was nice and the ballet dancers were very good. Has a couple of “stories” that are cute for kids! I was expecting a little more “ballet” in traditional Chinese dance. Had to do with choreography that anything else. Overall fun afternoon. There are like 3-4 parking lots, one literally across the street.
My friend and I went last night to see Harry Potter and it was amazing! Beyond amazing! I cant say anything negative about this place! We cant wait to see future shows. The show was magical! Warning for tickets though. We searched Providence Performing Arts Center to buy our tickets a few weeks ago. The top link (which we thought was ppac) actually was a scam site. The link was .net instead of .org and we had no idea. Please watch what link you press, Go Tickets is a scam website. 2 tickets cost $290 with Go Tickets, which we thought was high but just figured prices increased. We got to the venue and our tickets were never delivered so we had to buy new ones. Same section but closer, we only paid $120. Go Tickets has been harrassing us for hours now, but they still never sent the tickets. PPAC is aware and they cautioned us to make sure we use the .org in the future. The .net site had all the same logos and information though, so be aware.
