I grew up in New England and always dreamt of bringing our Midwest friends and family back to my home for our wedding. I couldn't think of a better, more unique venue to showcase how cool Portsmouth is! We absolutely loved working with Jimmy's and our wedding was absolutely perfect. Our guests raved about the Art Gallery where we hosted our cocktail hour and were blown away by the actual reception space. All of our guests loved the food and atmosphere. The Jimmy's staff went above and beyond to make it an unforgettable day for us and for our guests. If you are looking for a vibey, cool, moody and romantic venue for your wedding that is unlike any of the traditional ballrooms/wedding venues you are accustomed to seeing, Jimmy's Jazz & Blues Club is the place! Pro tip: make sure to get a live band because the acoustics in there are incredible and will keep the party rocking until the lights come on. We held our wedding meet and greet here and the event couldn’t have worked out better! The venue has great atmosphere (no decorations needed as the building speaks for itself), catered to a wide variety of ages, food was great and Theresa our manager that night was wonderful. Having the 2 side rooms as quieter spaces worked out well for those that wanted space or a place to have conversation. The 2 bar set up helped serve the crowd (150+) with ease. The staff handled the food stations and passed appetizers perfectly- the coffee and cookie bar was a big hit too. This helped set the tone for an upbeat wedding weekend. Jimmy's Jazz & Blues Club is a fantastic venue to take in world class, regional, and local artists in a relaxed, professional setting. The rooms, stage, service and artists are all top shelf. Come for fabulous dinner. Stay for a mind-blowing show. Leave with a giant smile! Repeat often for best results!!

Its a small venue in the heart of Portsmouth with a bar and a menu. The customer service is excellent. They get an array of musical acts who play on a small stage surrounded by a room full of tables. I saw Sophie B. Hawkins live and she met with fans after het amazing performance. I gave it 5 stars but it is more like 4.5. There is one flaw with the venue and no quick solution without a major remodeling. I woukd strongly avoid sitting at the bar for your show of choice because there are obstructed views between the bar and stage. The bar seats are cheaper and that's probably the reason. They show the performance in the bar on a monitor and you can hear the act clear as day. There are just some seats where you can't see any of it. I would like to see another show there but I'll buy a table seat.

Another great performance and evening at Jimmy's. We loved the last set when the trombonist played from on top of a table in the middle of the room. It created a cool vibe. You could pretend you were in New Orleans for a few minutes. I understand the need to close the kitchen at 8:45 and the rush to settle tabs. I suggest automatically placing dessert and coffee menus on everyone's table at 8:30. Savannah was kind enough to grab us an outstanding dessert (Opera Cake) at 8:47. Three years later and Jimmy's is remains a special place.
