Lovely old theater. The one and only place to see The Nutcracker Ballet in Utah! The costumes, set design and live orchestra are so high-class! The ballerinas are incredibly talented and hardworking. We enjoy the balcony seats. We are impressed by their performance every year we’ve gone!
Its a beautiful building and the show was quality. The sound is great and pretty much every seat in the house is a good view. The show I saw had closed captions and everything. However, it is a very old theater, and while there is some very small selection of seating for the modern sized american, the vast majority of the chairs are snug. I also got vertigo from how steep the aisles were. Not much room to scoot by! But the ushers were super helpful, kind and activly looking for people to help, so it took away some of the stress of finding the seats.
The historic charm, stunning architecture, and intimate atmosphere make every performance feel special. The staff was very welcoming, and the renovations have only enhanced its beauty without losing the original character. It was a perfect place to enjoy a music concert in a setting that feels both grand and personal. Highly recommend catching a show here!
In July 2025, we visited the Capitol Theater in Downtown Salt Lake City. It has a decorated facade on the building exterior, and it looks amazing. In 2016, we saw The Nutcracker theatrical performance, and the acting, dancing, and music were all delightful. Capitol Theater is a treasured asset in Downtown Salt Lake City.
Capital Theater is a beautiful building. Ballet West and the theatre put on a great show. The buildings old architecture is amazing too. We went to Nutcracker and it was amazing. The props, the dancers and even the curtain, was awesome. So much detail put into everything.
