The Gilliam Stage at Barter Theatre represents a unique chapter in American theatrical history, serving as part of Virginia's renowned State Theatre located in the scenic Appalachian town of Abingdon. We travel in an RV all over the U.S. and happened to stop in Abingdon, a place we'd never heard of, but happy to explore. We love plays and we were fortunate to get tickets to see "Murder for Two." It was so good! The actors are incredibly talented and the show is hilarious. If you can, be sure to see this fabulous performance. Thank you, Abingdon and Barter Theatre, for the wonderful memories from these two Floridians.
This was my frist time attending, and I was not disappointed, it was a fantastic experience. Great play. " murder for two " We even met the actors after the show, they were friendly, even when we knew they were tired. Great experience! Will definitely go back!
My mom, sister and I have been going to Barter since I was a child. Now, I get to share it with my children! It is such a joy everytime we go. The cast and production of every show they do demonstrates awe inspiring creativity and passion for the stage and for the audience. Barter Theatre isn’t just a good show - it’s a tradition!
Watched Anne of Green Gables today and it blew me away ! I drove over 2 1/2 hrs and it was my first time at the theater and all I can say is wish I could have seen it twice ! Anne was my favorite with amazing acting and singing and then I loved the relationship between her and Diana Berry! The theater was amazing. The people were so kind and friendly and the parking was great to deal with! Only downside is I wish the seats were a little bit bigger so you’d have more room to kinda stretch out and be comfortable, but that definitely will not stop me from ever going back!
Went to a 2:00 show of A Few Good Men. Excellent play! Very professionally done. Nice nostalgic atmosphere. I didn't purchase anything from the snack bar but a lot of people did. Will definitely go back.
