The Dothan Opera House stands as a cultural cornerstone in Alabama's Wiregrass region, bringing world-class performing arts to southeastern Alabama. This elegant venue hosts an eclectic mix of entertainment, from touring comedians and country music acts to intimate jazz performances and theatrical productions. Despite its name suggesting grand opera, the theater embraces a wonderfully diverse programming approach that reflects the varied tastes of its community.
The venue offers an intimate theatrical experience where every seat provides a connection to the performance. The acoustics allow for both the subtle nuances of a jazz trio and the robust energy of a country band to shine through clearly. Whether you're settling in for an evening of blues or anticipating the punchlines of a touring comedian, the Opera House creates an atmosphere where performers and audiences share a genuine sense of community and appreciation for live entertainment.
Located in downtown Dothan, the Opera House sits at the heart of this charming Southern city known as the Peanut Capital of the World. The surrounding downtown area offers a pleasant backdrop for an evening out, with local restaurants and cafes providing perfect spots for pre-show dining. Arriving for a performance here feels like stepping into the cultural heart of the Wiregrass, where the pace is relaxed but the entertainment is anything but ordinary.

Saw Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country on 11/13/25 here. Absolutely, loved seeing a show here. A++ renovation, the hall looked and more importantly sounded amazing. Staff was super nice and courteous. Concessions were reasonably priced. I drove 4 hours each way for this show and would absolutely do it again. Y'all rock. Thanks so much for having us!
Worked with Tom F. throughout the day unloading, setup and load out. What a terrific individual who made himself available to so many. Tom was prepared and had a plan in place to make our day go smoother, and it did. His crowd control was amazing and went off without any problems. The new facility is amazing, so we'll planned and laid out. Very welcoming and everyone takes pride in what they do
Just saw Tyrus and he was excellent. We've been to a few plays before the remodel this year and love the Opera House. Unfortunately, it was a last minute stub hub buy and we got row mm...the upper deck...top of the mountain...which was too hot and had an obstructed view because of the railing and row ll, so we stood up most of the show to be able to see. Glad to see they are investing in revitalizing it. It has great potential.
I was fortunate enough to get to see the legendary Jimmy Vaughan here and it was a great show. Very comfortable seats in the second row. I also won two tickets and gave them to my best friend and his wife. We all loved the show. I look forward to coming back when they have more entertainment that I like.
Went to see a Southern Mama show. It was five stars. Crazy squirrel was fantastic so we’re southern mama and all the rest of the gang. The seats were too close to the balcony wall no legroom whatsoever but the acoustics was fantastic. The staff was wonderful and helpful. They should be given a raise.
